Why "open source"?

"Proprietary" software
Most of the software businesses use today โ management systems, payment systems, CRM โ is "proprietary": the code is secret, owned by a company, and using it requires paying a licence, often renewable each year on terms decided unilaterally by the vendor.

Open source
Means the opposite: the code is public. Anyone โ another company, an independent developer, an oversight body โ can read it, verify it, modify it, use it. Projects like Linux, WordPress, Firefox or Odoo (which TALO is built on) are open source, and underpin a huge share of the internet and IT infrastructure worldwide, including those of governments and multinationals.

There are no mandatory subscriptions to the platform's "engine". The costs you pay are for service โ configuration, maintenance, support, custom development โ not for the right to use the software.

Lock-in is when, after years of using proprietary software, a company finds itself "trapped": data in a format only that vendor can read, staff trained only on that system, switching means starting from zero at very high cost. The operational base for everything: customer records, orders, inventory, accounting, communications, reporting. With Odoo, everything is in a single system, and every piece of information entered once is available wherever it's needed. It's one of the most widely used open source projects in the world for business management, used by hundreds of thousands of companies.

TALO's AI โ the coordinator
The artificial intelligence layer that ties all the other components together: it observes the data arriving from every part of the platform โ transactions, behaviour, location, communications โ and uses it to act. It's the piece that makes TALO "AAI โ Applied Artificial Intelligence": it works in service of those who use it, coordinating tools, not replacing people.

Digital wallets โ Hyperledger Fabric
Every payment, every cashback point, every transaction is recorded on a distributed, immutable digital ledger โ no one can alter it, not even Glifix. It's a "permissioned" blockchain, built for business applications: thousands of transactions per second, at a cost of a few thousandths of a euro per transaction.

The TALO app isn't downloaded from any app store: it opens from a link, directly in the phone's browser, and works like an installed app โ home screen icon, notifications, partial offline functionality. Works automatically on any smartphone, Android or iPhone.

The dashboards โ Apache Superset
The tool with which whoever runs the business sees, in real time and without having to ask anyone, what's happening: transactions, new customers, campaigns, trends. An open source project used by large companies for data analysis โ here available to the individual operator with the same quality.

Security and data
Every business's data โ and that of its customers โ stays within the TALO circuit's infrastructure, not on generic third-party servers. Open source management software and an immutable blockchain ledger together guarantee data protection and transaction verifiability: two needs often in conflict in traditional systems.
